If you’re wondering about the meaning of a DPX® Storage System, let’s clarify it right here. DPX means Duo-Plus Extra and it includes:

  • Long gun storage on the door back
  • A system of pouches and pockets to store small valuables on the door back
  • Two handgun loops to store handguns on the door back
  • The convertible Duo Interior system inside the safe with both shelves and long gun capacity.

The DPX Storage System provides complete flexibility in storing small items and handguns on the door.
The DPX Storage System is now standard on the Browning Pro-Steel Platinum Plus, Gold, Medallion, and Bronze Series.

Browning ProSteel Safe Storage Solutions
People buy a gun safe to store and protect their firearms and other valuables. Because most people cannot buy multiple safes or build a huge vault to hold a growing collection, a better safe should maximize storage capacity for the owner. Browning ProSteel safes include revolutionary design features that allow the safe to hold more — whether long guns or other small items. Instead of just having an “interior” like other safes, Browning safes have a Storage System to store more valuables and allow easier access to the safe contents.

Duo-Plus Storage Interior (patent pending):

Many safe brands include a convertible interior, which allows the storage configuration inside the safe to be changed over time as the owner’s needs evolve. Browning ProSteel safes introduced the concept of the Duo-Plus Interior (patent pending). The Duo Interior is Browning’s convertible interior, and the “Plus” is to utilize the inside of the safe door to easily and efficiently store more in the safe. Hence the “ Duo-Plus” system uses the door back to store long guns for easy access and more capacity, as well as the storage space inside the safe interior.

The Duo-Plus concept is also used in the Duo-Plus Extra ( DPX) Storage System, which includes long gun storage on the door back, as well as a versatile system of pouches, pockets and loops to store handguns and other small valuables.

Each series of safes has a standard interior/storage system. The specifications for each model include the type of interior and the long gun capacity for that particular model.

The Gun Capacity description in the specifications is a series of three numbers, for example, 11/22+7. The first number is the long gun capacity of the interior portion of the safe with part of the space used for shelves (11 in the example). The second number is the interior long gun capacity if the shelves are removed (22 in the example). The “Plus” number (+7 in the example) is the long gun capacity on the back of the door. The door back capacity can be used to store long guns whether or not shelves are used in the interior.

Different safe models in the same Series (Medallion for example) will have a different size interior of the standard configuration for that series. The actual interior size/capacity is shown in the specifications by model.

The Duo-Plus Extra ( DPX) Storage System (patent pending) includes:

  • Long gun storage on the door back
  • A system of pouches and pockets to store small valuables on the door back
  • Two Handgun Loops to store handguns on the door back
  • A convertible Duo Interior system inside the safe with both shelves and long gun capacity

The DPX System is standard on the following safe series:

  • Platinum Plus
  • Gold
  • Bronze (pouches on top half only)
  • Medallion

Swivel DPX Barrel Loops:
Our Swivel DPX Barrel Loops are a great upgrade for Platinum Plus, Gold and Medallion Series safes. The standard DPX Barrel rack requires long guns to be slid out from under the barrel rack to remove them from the door back storage. The new Swivel DPX Barrel Loops allow a long gun to be removed simply by twisting an individual loop and pulling the gun straight out from the door back. Adding and removing guns to the DPX is simple and easy with the Swivel Barrel loops.

The standard DPX Barrel Rack requires long guns to be slid out from under the barrel rack to remove them from the door back storage. The Swivel DPX Barrel Loops allow a long gun to be removed simply by twisting an individual loop and pulling the gun straight out from the door back. Adding and removing guns to the DPX is simple and easy with the Swivel Barrel Loops.

Swivel DPX Barrel Loops are standard on the following safe series:

  • Platinum Plus
  • Gold
  • Medallion

Note:  The DPX Storage System and the Duo-Plus Interior are not available as retrofit additions to existing safes.
